Last week, the Royal Dutch Hunters’ Association – Koninklijke Nederlandse Jagersvereniging – hosted the 2019 FACE Members’ Meeting in the Netherlands, where FACE leadership appointed Dr. David Scallan as its new Secretary General.
George Aman, President of the CIC – “I would like to congrate Dr. David Scallan on his new position as Secretary General at FACE. We have known each other for some time, and I hope that this change will lead the pathway for FACE and CIC to develop much deeper ties beyond our existing working relationship.”
Dr. David Scallan was previously serving as FACE’s Senior Conservation Manager where he was responsible for overseeing the implementation of the federation’s conservation programme. He has a strong background in project management, EU affairs, conservation policy, game management, sustainable agriculture and human-wildlife conflict. He received his Ph.D. from the National University of Ireland Galway with a dissertation examining the economic, ecological and social place of hunting in rural Ireland. He has extensive knowledge of European hunting policy and politics.
As a CIC Young Opnion member, Dr. Scallan is intimately familiar with CIC’s goals and operations, and the CIC is excited to collaborate with FACE on future projects with David at the helm.
