The CIC regrets to announce that the 67th General Assembly (GA) of the CIC, due to take place from 13-17 May 2020 in Riga, Latvia will not be going ahead as planned. The reason is due to the increasing concern over the impacts of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
The outbreak is already affecting travel plans and the willingness of people to travel during the current outbreak. A number of travel restrictions are in place, many universities and schools are being closed, and flights to several destinations cancelled. While the progress of the virus is uncertain, the CIC Executive Committee has taken the difficult but precautionary decision to cancel the 67th GA of the CIC in Riga.
This decision has not been taken lightly and there is a huge disappointment among the organisers. The CIC is exploring alternative arrangements. Options range from holding another event at a later date in 2020, to the total cancellation of the GA in 2020. The exact format of any subsequent event is still to be decided.
We thank you for your understanding for what are exceptional circumstances beyond our control.
We wish you all the very best, and we hope to see you in good health and in good numbers at an event later in the year.
