The 2^nd International Brown Bear Symposium was held in the Central House of Hunters and Fishermen in Moscow under the patronage of CIC. The meeting, which was very well organized by the association "Rosohotrybolovsoyuz” under the chair of Dr. A. Ulitin, had 49 participants from 10 countries (Azerbaijan, Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Poland, Rumania, Russia and Spain) discussining the present and the future of the brown bear in Eurasia.

 

The introductory speeches were held by CIC President Dieter Schramm, R. Dzieciolowski, President of the CIC Big Game Commission and Dr. A. Ulitin, Chairman of the Central Board of "Rosohotrybolovsoyuz” and Head of the CIC Russian Delegation. Numerous presentations from different countries, which were available in writing in Russian as well as in English, were complemented by an interesting excursion. The participants have formulated a resolution about status, aim and management strategies for brown bear.
