Meeting of the Falconry Commission

The Commission meeting took place on 3rd May from 9:00 to 10:00 am in Belgrade.

The following topics were covered:

 

1. Welcome and activity report by the Commission President José Manuel Rodriguez-Villa Matons.

 

2. Antonio de Castro, Grand Falconer of Kingdom of Spain, reported on the Spanish Royal Guild of Falconers, on the recovery of traditions like the Maltese Falcon and a resume of links between the Spanish Royal House and Falconry.

 

3. The Presentation on Serbian Falconry by Tibor Buza, President of Serbian Falconers’ Association reviewed shortly the history of falconry in the country hosting the CIC General Assembly and its actual status as well as the challenges ahead.

 

4. Ognen Polenak, President of the Macedonian Falconers Club “Yarak”, briefed attendants on the very recent recovery of falconry tradition in the country once it disappeared after World War II though it was included in hunting law till 1954. The Yarak Club has now 12 members, 5 of them keeping and flying birds of prey.
