Victor SCHERRER elected President of the “FRENCH SAINT-HUBERTUS CLUB”

Head of the CIC French Delegation now chairs the prestigious Saint-Hubert Club de France (SHCF). “Our ambition: to re-invent the St. Hubert” that is the goal announced by Victor SCHERRER during the club’s General Assembly which unanimously elected him President.

Established in 1902 as an officially approved organisation, the SHCF is the first hunting and shooting association in France which played a major role in the development of sustainable hunting and wildlife conservation.

The SHCF is at the origin of numerous significant innovations and creations in France, such as professional and government game-keepers, hunters federations, migratory birds protection league, national park society, Office National de la Chasse et de la Faune Sauvage… It also played a role in the establishment of the CIC, founded in Paris in 1930 with Maxime DUCROQ as first CIC President and President of the SHCF (1930-1949).

The SHCF is considered as the prominent “think-tank” for wildlife conservation and sustainable hunting in France. For almost 110 years, its highly-respected review “Le Saint-Hubert” reflects the key-issues in these fields.

Fascinated by the role of hunting in society, its challenges and its future prospects, Victor Scherrer conducted within the Economic and Social Council a think-tank on hunting, and in 2002 he published the report "Reinventing Hunting for the XXI Century", and in 2008 "Hunting and Sustainable Development".

Victor Scherrer is an Officer of the French Legion of Honour and Chairman of different food companies.

Mindful of a transparent and collegial management, he emphasized that the composition of the Board of SHCF that is rich in renowned experts of hunting, is the best guarantee of success in the service of French hunting.

The CIC congratulates Victor Scherrer for his election and wishes him success in his new position.
