New government member visiting CIC Headquarters

On 30 September a distinguished government delegation from Newfoundland and Labrador visited the CIC Headquarters in Budakeszi. The aim of this visit was to further strengthen the cooperation between the CIC Newfoundland Delegation and the CIC Office.

Hon. Clyde Jackman, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture and Shane Mahoney, Executive Director, Strategic Science and Sustainable Development, Department of Environment and Conservation, discussed future plans with Kai Wollscheid and Tamás Marghescu.

In the evening CIC President Lozé hosted a dinner to honour the guests at the renowned Budapest restaurant Gundel. Andrew Tobin, Executive Assistant to Minister Jackman, Yolanda Miller, Sealing Industry Consultant at the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture joined the party in the evening, arriving directly from a conference in Moscow.

On Friday, 1 October the Newfoundland Delegation visited the Hungarian Parliament and met representatives of the Hungarian Government. In the afternoon the group travelled to the countryside and inspected an enterprise active in aquaculture and tourism, where the delegates had exchange of experiences on fisheries with Hungarian professionals.

A number of collaborative project ideas were born and the next few weeks will show, which of these ideas can be brought to reality.
