Willem Wijnstekers has been involved in CITES for the last 31 years, for 20 years in the European Commission and since 1999 as Secretary-General of the Convention. He retired in May 2010 and since then he dedicates a lot of his time to help anyone solve CITES questions and issues.
His book “The Evolution of CITES” has come to its 9th edition. As with all previous editions, this comprehensive publication presents a history of the evolution of CITES. It begins with the basics and guides the reader through its complex structure. It presents the provisions of the Convention and relevant Resolutions and Decisions in an accessible way as well as providing explanations and comments to facilitate an understanding of the Convention and of how it should be implemented.
The 9th edition of The Evolution of CITES is available in English, French and Spanish.
CIC co-sponsors and publishes the book which brings us the unique opportunity to spread the word on sustainable hunting as this publication is a must for all professionals working with environmental issues.
"By publishing this book and coordinating its realization, the CIC as a pro sustainable use organization of many million hunters in the world has clearly manifested its decision to support the implementation of this important international convention. Undoubtedly, one cannot position the CIC and its work on the CITES convention better, for every CITES authority and management unit in the world, customs control points at international airports will work with this 934 pages book with the CIC logo on its cover", said Tamás Marghescu, CIC Director General.
