Finnish Secondment to support the work of CIC Headquarters

As a final act of the opening ceremony of the 58th General Assembly in St. Petersburg, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Metsähallitus (Finnish State Forest and Park Service) and the CIC. According to this agreement, Metsähallitus has sent a young professional to support the work of the CIC Headquarters for one year period. The seconded person will then return with valuable knowledge and experience on international wildlife issues. Other CIC National Delegations are kindly being encouraged to follow this fine example of true win-win cooperation.

Mikko Rautiainen, Wildlife and Fishery Officer of Metsähallitus, was selected for the secondment and he already started on 4th of July. Mr. Rautiainen will primarily work for the Policy & Law Division supporting the elected Division President in his daily duties. This includes e.g. following the major European and global legal and policy developments in the field of wildlife conservation and hunting. He will also act as a focal point between the Nordic Delegations and Headquarters and he will assist the CIC team in their versatile duties such as organizing events, etc.

Mikko Rautiainen, age of 32, has graduated as a Master of Science with major studies of Forest Ecology and Wildlife Management. His master thesis was about Wild Forest Reindeer. Mr. Rautiainen has earlier been working as a Wildlife Management Advisor for the Game Management District of Ostrobothnia, Finland and being involved in projects. He also has a degree for Bachelor of Forestry.

Mikko can be contacted by email m.rautiainen@cic-wildlife.org or during CIC Headquarters office hours by phone + 36 23 453 830.
