![]() |
Since 2003, the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union (CAP) is undergoing a fundamental transformation focusing on a stronger market orientation of agriculture as well as on a better integration of nature conservation and environmental protection goals.
Against the background of current discussions on the further development of the CAP, three expert workshops, entitled “Flower-fields in agriculture: the experience – problems – solutions”, have been elaborating on proposals for both ecological and practical optimization of flower strips and banks to safeguard biodiversity in agricultural landscapes.
Summarizing the results, the document “Key points for the implementation of a practice-oriented flower bank concept” has been worked out, divided into:
• Background and framework of flower strips and banks
• actions for the future
• flower strips and banks as agri-environmental measures (AEM)
• flower strips and banks as a voluntary unpaid activities.
