This recently published article in the Guardian sheds light on the threat of celebrity and political influence on the issue of “trophy hunting.”
Since its release, prominent individuals from the world of conservation have come forward in recognition of the realities laid out in this piece.
This includes UK conservationist George Monbiot, author and columnist for The Guardian on environmental and political affairs.
In direct response to the article, he has stated that he feels he was “wrong” about “trophy hunting.”
We would like to thank him, and others, for taking a fact based approach to this issue, and for listening to the rural voices of Africa.
Supporting this viewpoint, which many scientists have been abused for stating, should be considered as a courageous and honourable act.
