Supporting the International Targets of the GBF:
Innovate Financing for Biodiversity Protection
Target 19: Increase Biodiversity Financing. CIC works with progressive landowners to correct lack of private finance in biodiversity protection
Conserve 30x30 Globally
Target 3: Conserve 30% of Land by 2030 (“30×30”). CIC drives biodiversity recovery by promoting rewilding efforts and ensuring the stewardship and growth of hunting areas to protect them from development.
Halt Extinction & Resource Conflicts
GBF Target 4: Halt Species Extinction and Manage Human-Wildlife Conflicts. CIC’s members combine traditional knowledge with innovative management actions to halt species extinction and reduce conflict between humans and wildlife.

94 Years of Conservation Vision
Our History
- Founding CIC member Harold Jefferson Coolidge Jr. was a founding director of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in 1948.
- Members of the CIC helped establish the RAMSAR Convention on Wetlands in 1971.
- At the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, CIC helped secure international agreement on the Strategy for Sustainable Development, highlighting the crucial role of sustainable use in the biodiversity of ecosystems.
