The CIC extends its best wishes to George Aman, Honorary President and Former President of the CIC, who celebrates his 70th birthday today.

Mr. Aman served as President of the CIC between 2016 and 2021.

During his tenure, he oversaw the introduction of numerous groundbreaking projects, including leading the development of the CIC Communications Strategy and Action Plan, establishing the 1 Euro per Hunter initiative, and a campaign to end the practice of captive bred lion shooting.

Partnerships were formed during his Presidency in critical new regions, such as through a Memorandum of Understanding with the China Wildlife Conservation Association. He also initiated the CIC effort to join forces with the International Sport Fishing Confederation (CIPS) and the International Horse Sports Confederation (IHSC), as part of the organisation’s work to align with like-minded organisations.

Prior to stepping down as President in 2021, he oversaw the organisation of the 67th General Assembly in conjunction with Hungary’s One with Nature exhibition, which also included the CIC hosting three international conferences within the framework of Hungary’s landmark event.

As an Honorary President, Mr. Aman remains a member of the CIC Executive Committee providing support to the organisation using his long-standing expertise within the CIC.

Many generous personal donations and his fundraising efforts over the years have facilitated the expansion and further positioning of the CIC as a global voice for conservation through sustainable use.

George is a true gentleman, a loving family man, a keen sportsman, a strategic mind, and a driven conservationist.

We thank him for his many years of continued service to the CIC and join him in celebrating this special occasion.

Dr. Philipp Harmer
President
